(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Express extended the London Lightning’s losing streak to three games after defeating the visitors 108-100 last night. Ryan Anderson picked up player of the game honours and Juan Pattillo struck for a double-double in the victory.
Windsor (4-7) is slowly inching toward .500 after putting together a 3-1 record and a modest 2-game win streak over their past four games. Their test as a team will come January 4 when they host the league leading Moncton Magic (11-2).
Yesterday Windsor had six players scoring in double digits, including three off the bench, led by Chris Jones with 29 points. His output was matched by London's Garrett Williamson.
Anthony Ottley Jr (12) and DeAndre Thomas (11) were aso big contributors with limited time. Starting point guard Horace Wormely put up 12 points and dished for 9 assists while Pattilo dropped 12 and cleared the glass for 10 rebounds.
The Express ran out to a 31-23 1st quarter lead before allowing London back into the game in the 2nd and 3rd periods. London (5-7) sliced 2 points off Windsor’s lead in the 2nd quarter and then put up 31 points of their own in the 3rd to whittle the Express margin to just 3 and setting up a 4th period showdown.
Windsor hung on for the win despite the Lightning out-performing the Express in each major aspect except the score. What the stat sheet doesn’t show is that Windsor restricted London’s opportunities and limiting them to just 71 attempts from the floor. Conversely, the Express put up 91 shots at the basket, and hitting only 45.1%, though it was enough to win.
The players have an extended New Year break as head coach Bill Jones will attempt to keep them focussed and prepared for the Magic’s visit to town.
